The Worcestershire Hunt Team Chase is one of the highlights of the Hunt's calendar. Originally held at Sinton Green over Sid Knight’s famous hedges, the event moved to Copyholt Lane, Bentley kindly hosted by the Gibbs family and Mary Mitchell where the National Championships were staged. Owing to the wet weather we were unable to run in the Autumn of 2004 and the event was not staged again until 2011.
The first running over the new course Abbeylands, Berry Lane, Upton Warren, the home of the Andrew and Liz Shaw, was a huge success despite the atrociously wet weather. The wonderful old turf and beautifully constructed course provided a good challenge for the riders.
The Team Chase offers a great day out for supporters and spectators alike; and sponsorship opportunities for local businesses.
There are classes at Novice and Intermediate levels where teams of three or four riders endeavour to get closest to an optimum time set at a “fair hunting pace”, and a speed class over the Intermediate course provides the highlight of the day with the fastest team winning the trophy.
The Team Chase is run on a Sunday, usually at the end of February, depending on the national fixture list. The Chairman is Caroline Startin and the Secretary Mrs Elizabeth Shaw.
